Blackened Salmon

This is a simple recipe that makes any salmon into a delicious meal for lunch or dinner. Can be cooked on a stovetop or in the oven, and yes even your air fryer ( use oven directions).

Ingredients

  • 4 salmon fillets 
  • 1 tablespoon canola oil
  • 2 tablespoons butter
Blackened Seasoning
  • ¾ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon each salt & pepper
  • 1 ½ teaspoons paprika
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • ½ teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 ½ teaspoons brown sugar

Instructions

  • Combine seasonings & brown sugar in a small bowl.
  • Rub seasoning over fish and pan fry or bake in the oven as directed below.
Stove Top
  • Heat oil and butter in a large skillet over medium high heat.
  • Add the seasoned fish fillets and cook 3 minutes per side or just until done (do not overcook).
Oven
  • Turn broiler onto high and place oven rack on the top.
  • Line a pan with foil and add seasoned fish fillets
  • Broil for 3 minutes.
  • Flip fish and additional 3-4 minutes until tender and flaky. Do not overcook.
Air Fryer
  • Turn air fryer to broiler setting. Set to high and place rack on the top slot.
  • Line a pan with foil and add seasoned fish fillets.
  • Broil for 3 minutes.
  • Flip fish and additional 3-4 minutes until tender and flaky. Do not overcook.
